How the Technology Works

In practical terms, that means this interface is not limited to one-way “smart charging” logic only. Under the right system design, it can also support controlled energy flow in the opposite direction. PowerBridge is engineered as an external portable power device that works within this existing architecture to access stored battery energy and convert it into stable AC electricity for real-world use.
1. CCS-Enabled Charging Interface
PowerBridge connects through your Tesla’s CCS-enabled charging interface — the same vehicle-side pathway used for high-power charging communication. This places the system within an existing electrical and communication architecture rather than requiring permanent integration into the vehicle.
2. ISO 15118 and Bidirectional Power Transfer
ISO 15118 is the industry communication standard behind advanced EV charging functions. It defines message and sequence requirements for bidirectional power transfer, meaning the charging architecture can support controlled energy movement in either direction when the overall system is designed for it.
3. External Portable Power Conversion
Instead of permanently modifying the car, PowerBridge is engineered as an external portable power system. It safely accesses stored battery energy and converts it into stable AC output for home backup, outdoor use, job sites, and emergency support.
