Our Story: Building the Future of EV Backup Power

RoamEnergy began with a simple belief: the battery inside an electric vehicle should do more than move a car. It should also help families stay powered during outages, support work outdoors, and make clean backup energy more accessible in everyday life.

Our Mission

To unlock the energy already stored in electric vehicles and turn it into practical backup power for homes, jobsites, outdoor living, emergencies, and the next generation of smart energy use.

Our Vision

We believe EVs will become part of everyday energy infrastructure. Not just transportation. Not just charging. A connected, mobile energy resource that can support real life when the grid is unavailable, expensive, or unstable.

EV Energy source

The vehicle battery is already large, mobile, and valuable during outages.

AC Usable power

PowerBridge helps convert compatible EV energy into practical AC output.

Gen 3 Future platform

Our roadmap moves toward higher-power, split-phase, bidirectional EV energy management.

Safe Clear limits

Home wiring and panel-related setups require licensed electrical evaluation.

The Problem We Saw

Many EV owners have tens of kilowatt-hours of energy sitting in the driveway. During an outage, that energy can be more useful than another small portable battery. But without the right interface, communication pathway, and output system, the energy remains locked inside the vehicle.

At the same time, traditional backup options are not perfect. Gas generators can be loud, fuel-dependent, maintenance-heavy, and unsafe if used incorrectly. Portable power stations are convenient, but their battery capacity is often much smaller than an EV battery.

The gap: EVs already have the energy. Owners need a practical, portable, compatible, and safe way to use that energy for real-world backup power.

Why We Started with Tesla

Tesla owners were among the first to ask this question at scale: “My car has a large battery. Why can’t I use it during an outage?”

That question led to PowerBridge Standard, our first-generation product for compatible CCS-enabled Tesla vehicles. It helped prove that Tesla battery energy could become practical portable AC backup power when the vehicle, communication pathway, and external device are matched correctly.

Important compatibility note:

PowerBridge Standard is for compatible CCS-enabled Tesla vehicles only. If a Tesla displays “CCS incompatible,” Standard will not work unless CCS capability is enabled.

Why PowerBridge Pro Expands the EV Backup Vision

As more EV owners asked for backup-power options, it became clear that the opportunity was bigger than one vehicle brand. The future is EV backup power — not only Tesla backup power.

PowerBridge Pro is our next step: higher output, 120V / 240V support, Bluetooth app monitoring, and selected compatibility expansion beyond Tesla based on tested vehicle matching data.

Step 1

Unlock vehicle energy

Use the EV battery as the energy source instead of buying another large battery system for every situation.

Step 2

Make it useful as AC output

Convert compatible EV energy into practical output for essential loads, outdoor use, jobsite power, and emergency scenarios.

Step 3

Expand compatibility carefully

Move from Tesla-only support toward compatible Tesla and selected non-Tesla EVs using tested communication matching data.

What We Are Building Next: Gen 3 EV Energy Management

PowerBridge Pro is not the end of our roadmap. RoamEnergy is actively developing a third-generation platform designed for more advanced EV energy management and more complete home-backup planning.

The goal is not simply to increase power. The goal is to make EV energy smarter: usable during outages, useful during high electricity price periods, and capable of becoming part of a more flexible home energy strategy.

12kW+ Output Direction

Gen 3 is being positioned toward 12kW+ output capability for more demanding backup and energy-management scenarios.

50A / 240V Split-Phase

The roadmap includes 50A, 240V split-phase output designed around U.S. home-backup expectations more directly than today’s single-phase setup.

Bidirectional Charge / Discharge

Gen 3 is planned around both charging and discharging capability, allowing the EV to interact more intelligently with home energy needs.

Smart Energy Scheduling

Future control logic is intended to support using EV energy during high electricity price periods and charging during lower-price periods.

App-Based Control

The direction includes app-based intelligent control, monitoring, configuration, and remote update capability.

Broader EV Compatibility

Gen 3 continues the direction of expanding beyond Tesla, with compatibility based on real vehicle communication and validation data.

Roadmap note: Gen 3 is part of RoamEnergy’s active product direction. Final specifications, availability, and compatibility will depend on engineering validation, safety testing, and real-world vehicle matching.

Our Philosophy, Mission, and Vision

RoamEnergy is built around one practical idea: clean backup power should be easier to access because many people already own a large battery on wheels.

Our mission is to unlock that stored EV energy safely and make it useful across real-world situations — home outages, outdoor power, jobsite work, emergency planning, and future smart home energy management.

Our vision is a world where EVs are not just transportation devices. They become mobile energy assets that help people reduce generator dependence, improve outage resilience, and use electricity more intelligently.

Not another portable power station

PowerBridge does not try to store energy in a separate battery. It helps unlock energy already stored in a compatible EV.

Not a gas generator

EV backup power avoids gasoline handling and engine noise for many essential-load use cases, while still requiring clear electrical limits and responsible setup.

PowerBridge Standard vs Pro vs Gen 3 Roadmap

RoamEnergy’s product path is moving from portable Tesla backup power toward broader EV backup power and future smart EV energy management.

For compatible CCS-enabled Tesla vehicles only

  • Designed for compatible Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles.
  • Requires CCS capability enabled on the Tesla vehicle.
  • Provides 120V AC pure sine wave output up to 3,500W.
  • Best for portable essential-load backup with compatible Tesla vehicles.

  • Planned 50A / 240V split-phase architecture.
  • Bidirectional charge and discharge direction.
  • Smart energy scheduling for peak-price discharge and off-peak charging.
  • App-based intelligent control and remote update capability.
  • Designed for more advanced home energy management use cases.

Safety Boundaries Matter

We believe EV backup power should be practical, but it should also be honest. A portable backup device is not the same thing as a casual DIY home-panel connection.

Any setup involving a home electrical panel, generator inlet, transfer switch, interlock, selected circuits, meter-side equipment, split-phase conversion, or household wiring must be evaluated and installed by a licensed electrician according to local electrical codes.

PowerBridge Pro provides 120V or 240V single-phase output. It does not directly provide standard U.S. 120/240V split-phase power with neutral by itself. Some U.S. home-backup setups may need an external split-phase autotransformer.

Our position:

EV backup power should solve real problems, not create new risks. That is why we separate portable essential-load use from professionally evaluated home-backup wiring.
